If you’re looking to get serious about in-depth biblical study, and have a desire to combine it with another discipline then the Bachelor of Christian Studies is exactly what you need.
You will study at least one year full-time equivalent of undergraduate degree-level study in a non-theological field, of which at least 75% must form a coherent area of study (e.g., Psychology, Business, Comparative Religions etc) at an Australian University, and you may also complete it at the same time as you undertake theological units with us.
The Bachelor of Christian Studies provides flexibility for people who would like to incorporate a Christian perspective in their chosen career.
To be able to study the course at BST you need to have a minimum OP score of 16 or equivalent. (If you don’t have an OP score, you will have to demonstrate your academic suitability for the course via an English writing exercise or an interview.)
This course enables you to do at least one year of full-time equivalent of degree level study in a non-theological field of which 75% must form a coherent area of study (e.g. business, psychology, comparative religions at an Australian university). The units completed will form 32 credit points from the external provider and is subject to the ACT’s senescence policy.
If you’re an international student, and English is not your first language, you need to have taken the IELTS test and achieved an average score of 6.5. The restrictions of a student visa also mean that international students must study full-time.
If you study the BChrStuds full-time it will take six semesters (three years), as you’ll do an average of four units each semester and you need 24 units to complete the course. You can study part-time if it suits you better, as long as you finish the course within nine years. Of your 24 units, four must be from Biblical Introduction, two from Church History, two from Exegesis, two from Theology and one Independent Study. You also have six elective units which you can choose from any of the sections below. You will also need to complete one year equivalent of full-time study at an Australian University in your non-theological area of study.
N.B. Core units are generally offered every year, while elective units are offered in alternative semesters. Please refer to the college timetable to find out what’s being offered.
