Between them there is more than seventy years of voluntary service at BST. They are gifted and experienced in various missions and ministry work, education, business, governance, and not-for-profits. They are passionate about the ministry of the college in equipping men and women to better know God’s word and serve him in the church and around the world.

Chair of the Board
Ian joined BST’s board in 2003. He and his wife, Christine, have been members of WEC International since 1984. They have worked in mission research and IT training and support in the UK, as well as church planting and lay training in Ghana. Ian continues to work with WEC in IT. Ian and Christine are members of Mitchelton Presbyterian Church.
Betsy joined BST’s board in 2011. She has lectured in adult and workplace education and has extensive experience in business management. Since migrating to Australia from South Africa in 1986, Betsy has been part of the Hope Behind Bars team that minister to prisoners in Thailand. She has a special interest in contemplative Christianity and worships at Kenmore Baptist Church.
Leon was appointed to the BST board in December 2015 as a Director and Treasurer. His expertise includes financial and strategic management, business development, and has been involved in the not-for-profit sector for more than 35 years. Prior to his retirement in November 2015, Leon was the Chief Financial Officer at Scripture Union Queensland, where he worked for more than seven years.
Originally from South Africa, Leon was the CEO of Rand Aid Association in Johannesburg, where he successfully transitioned the charity from being 50 percent reliant on Government funding to be 80 percent self-funded.
Leon and his wife, Jenny attend Eastside Community Church. He loves gardening, music and watching cricket and other sports in his spare time.
Terry was appointed to the BST board in May 2015. He is currently the Business Development Manager at Pronto, a leading provider of business management software. An innovative leader, Terry brings more than 27 years’ experience in enterprise resource planning and management. He has served as non-Executive Director on several churches and college boards including Claremont College Randwick, Sydney Anglican Schools Corporation, St Andrew’s Cathedral School, and St Lucia Bible Church where he and his wife, Julie, currently attend.
Peter joined BST’s board in 1995. He has been a member of OMF International since 1970, serving as: a dental and oral surgeon in Central Thailand Manorom Christian Hospital (1971-1991); OMF Medical Superintendent and Manorom Hospital Director from 1981-1991; OMF State Director for Queensland (1995-2005). He also worked for Queensland Health from 1992 to 2012 and is a Clinical Supervisor in Oral Surgery at University of Queensland. He and his wife, Rosemary, attend Eastside Community Church (Manly West), where Peter is an Elder.

Megan has worked in local government for 22 years in the areas of development assessment and strategic planning. She was appointed to the BST board in May 2015. Megan and her husband, Peter, attend Wavell Heights Presbyterian Church, where she is involved in the children’s ministry and also serves on the Committee of Management.

John is an engineer with more than 30 years of diverse experience in environmental and civil engineering. He was appointed to the BST board in April 2016 and brings a wealth of management, business development and project planning experience. John and his wife, Bronwyn, attend Mitchelton Presbyterian Church. They have a keen interest in supporting church mission work and hope to one day serve in remote and rural Australia. John loves playing the drums and is actively involved in music ministry. In addition to his full-time role as Service Group Manager for GHD, John is completing a Master of Business Administration part-time.

Carolyn is a lawyer with more than 15 years experience in family and estate law and specialises in the management of non-profit organisations. She was appointed to the BST Board in October 2017. Carolyn is co-founder and CEO of New Way Lawyers, the first non-profit law firm in Australia serving clients in the areas of domestic and family violence, estate law and family law. In 2012, Carolyn was a recipient of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards in the White Pages Community and Government category for her work in founding New Way Lawyers.
Carolyn and her husband, Ben, have been married for 16 years and they have a little girl named Erin. The family attend 17 Mile Church where Carolyn serves on the worship team and is actively involved in prayer ministry. In her spare time, Carolyn loves to read, go for walks, and enjoys travelling.

Ex Officio Member and Principal
As Principal of BST, Richard was appointed as an ex officio member of the BST board in 2014. He has more than 20 years’ experience teaching Greek, New Testament, church history and preaching. Richard’s love of effective preaching led him to serve on Sydney Diocese’s College of Preachers which he chaired for seven years. Richard and his wife Kim attend St Andrew’s Anglican Church in South Brisbane. Richard often guest speaks at various churches and conferences in South East Queensland as well as new South Wales. Kim is involved in ministry to university students as part of the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students, and volunteers in the committee that facilitate the GROW women’s conference.
