Dr Darrell Bock: Gospel and Cultural Engagement – MA Intensive
This class covers two topics: the nature of the gospel and thinking through how to represent the gospel in cultural engagement. One of the dilemmas in leading the church is how to relate these two topics, so we will take a biblical close look at both and their relationship, especially how controversial such engagement can be for the church. As a host of a podcast on cultural engagement, Dr Bock has experience in how to relate these two themes to each other.
Darrell is the Executive Director of Cultural Engagement and Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. He is a Humboldt Scholar (Tübingen University in Germany) and has authored more than thirty books, including well-regarded commentaries on Luke and Acts, studies of the historical Jesus, and work in cultural engagement as host of Dallas Theological Seminary’s The Table Podcasts. He was president of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) in 2000-2001, is a consulting editor for Christianity Today, and serves on the boards of Wheaton College and Chosen People Ministries. You’ll often see his articles appear in leadings publications, where he is often an expert for the media on New Testament issues. Darrell has been a New York Times best-selling author in nonfiction and is elder emeritus at Trinity Fellowship Church in Dallas.
