Meeting Professor Lo

Professor Lo Lung Kwong at Brisbane School of Theology
BST student Florence with Rev Professor Lo Lung Kwong

When I heard that Rev Professor Lo Lung Kwong was scheduled to visit Brisbane School of Theology, I was so excited. I have known him for a very long time. He was my Pastor and baptized me in 1981 (Easter) at the Chinese Methodist Church in Hong Kong.
As a new believer (34 years ago) I remember what Rev Lo preached: “God gives us a new life that is full of love, joy and peace. Jesus is just and cares for the poor. Faith and life connect together. We ought to love one another. Our faith should be reflected in our life, so that our life can overflow to others.”
I attended the Hong Kong Bible Society event at Brisbane School of Theology on Wednesday, 25 February where Rev Lo shared a message about the relationship between Bible colleges and local churches.  He shared God’s word encouraging us that if we have a heart and love for God, God will use us. God brings us to study at Bible colleges like BST so that we might be equipped.  As 1 Peter 2: 9 describes the “priesthood of all believers,” we can serve the local church, family and people in our work place. I reflected on his message. I live for the gospel for God’s purpose:  giving people abundant life (John 10:10) everywhere.
Rev Prof  Lo Lung Kwong is one of the consultant Scholars for the Revised Chinese Union Version Bible project. He obtained His PhD in New Testament from Durham University and is a former Principal of the Divinity School of Chung Chu College at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (1995-2014). His visit to Brisbane School of Theology is part of a number of visits across Brisbane, Melbourne  and Sydney in order to promote the new Revised Chinese Union Bible translation with the Hong Kong Bible Society.
