Asian Ministry Conference 2026

July 31 @ 9:00 am - August 1 @ 1:00 pm

How do we move beyond abstract theology to ministry that actually thrives in the Asian-Australian context? The Centre for Asian Christianity invites you to the 2026 Asian Ministry Conference at SMBC.

Designed for second-generation pastors, lay leaders, and ministry workers, this year’s conference tackles the contextuality of our work. We will be looking at both recent scholarship as well as addressing the practical cultural nuances of leadership, governance, and the unique challenges of the migrant church structure. Whether you are navigating pastoral-elder relations or serving international students, join us as we bridge the gap between academic scholarship and the challenges daily ministry.

For the first time, we are also introducing the CAC Colloquium. This gathering will feature recent scholarly work in Asian and Australian Christianity whilst bringing their voices and insights in discussion with ministry practitioners. Don’t miss it!

Where: Sydney Missionary and Bible College (Roberts-Dale Campus), Croydon Park.

When: Friday, 31st July (conference) and Saturday, 1st August (academic colloquium) 2026

What to expect

  • International Speaker: Hear from Daniel Lee, Academic Dean for the Asian American Center, Associate Professor of Theology and Asian American Studies.

Who is the CAC?

CAC stands for the Centre of Asian Christianity at the Brisbane School of Theology. Our vision is to be an Australian hub for the acceleration of gospel growth in the Asian church. The Asian Ministry Conference is organised by the CAC team and partially subsidised by the generous donations of supporters of the ministry. More info about CAC can be found here:

What is the purpose of the Asian Ministry Conference?

  • To provide theological best practice to ministry leaders in Asian contexts and thereby enhancing and catalysing further maturity and growth.
  • To address and work towards the resolution of the main issues, challenges, and opportunities for gospel growth in the Asian church throughout Australia and Asia.
  • To foster collaboration between Asian ministry organisations. We recognise significant work is already being done under God, but we would love to see more collaboration and better coordination so that efforts can be streamlined for maximum effectiveness.

In 2026, we wish to include more voices—campus ministries, parachurch groups, denominational leaders, experienced church leaders, missionary organisations—representing the Asian ministry scene in Australia, and not only explore, but begin to address and resolve the issues raised together. Speakers and workshops facilitate and equip leaders to engage in self-contextualisation in each person’s ministry context.

Can I attend the summit via zoom?

We do acknowledge that there may be schedule conflicts. We did explore the possibility of offering a hybrid summit, but unfortunately, due to the cost of the technical requirements required to ensure full participation of online delegates (especially during discussions) sadly, we are unable to accommodate an online option at this time.

Why is there a charge?

We are only able to partially subsidise the event. As we wish to maintain the quality of the event, the registration fee this year will help offset the costs of venue hire, catering and gifts for the contributors.
