An important staple of learning and being part of the BST community is the annual ‘Mission Exposure Week’ (MEW), which takes place in second semester each year. MEW has a long history at the college, going back many decades, and has seen students under take practical, mission-oriented field education and service down the street, a few suburbs over, down to NSW, up to to the Northern Territory, all the way to Japan or Manila or Nepal.
This year, our students stayed closer to home, but still had a the opportunity to experience two very different types of mission.
One team served all week at Hills Wesleyan Church on the northside of Brisbane, taking part in youth and children’s programs, serving and leading worship at an aged care home, participating in Sunday services and Sunday school, taking classes at Northside Christian College, and much more.
Our second team spent the week at the University of Queensland, serving alongside the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES) as they ministered to both local and overseas students across the campus.
We are very grateful to both Hills Church and AFES for accommodating our students, involving them in ministry and demonstrating what a life of service, ministry, and mission can look like in different contexts.
