🗓 Dates: February 10-14
📍 Location: On campus & streamed live via Zoom
💵 Cost: $550 per person (auditing); students for credit eligible for Fee-Help

Join us for an enriching five-day intensive led by renowned theologian Bruce Hindmarsh. With a D.Phil. from Oxford and a wealth of experience in early British evangelicalism, Bruce will guide you through the depths of prayer as he explores five key traditions and practices from the history of the church.

What You’ll Discover:

  • Why do we pray?
  • What makes prayer possible?
  • What is the meaning and purpose of prayer?

Each day, we’ll delve into a different practice:

  • The short, frequent prayers of the Desert Fathers
  • The liturgical collects from the Gregorian Sacramentary and Book of Common Prayer
  • The examen of conscience among the Jesuits and Puritans
  • Imaginative meditation techniques from 17th-century devotions
  • The Lord’s Prayer as a personal prayer model by Martin Luther and C.S. Lewis

Experience a blend of historical context and practical application, with dedicated time to practice these patterns of prayer together.
