Community Liaison and Recruitment Officer

Brisbane School of Theology (BST) is seeking to employ a part-time (0.4 load) Community Liaison and Recruitment Officer. BST is an interdenominational, theological training college accredited by the Australian College of Theology, a University College within the Australian tertiary education framework. For 80 years the college has equipped ministers, missionaries and motivated Christians for service and leadership in Australia and overseas. BST offers awards ranging across certificates, diplomas, degrees and post-graduate (masters and doctorates), including several awards in Mandarin as part of our Chinese program.

The successful applicant will initiate and develop relationships with churches, Christian organisations, mission agencies, denominations and schools with a view to raising the college’s profile among Christian communities, providing insight into ways BST can better serve those communities, and promoting the college’s awards and activities to attract enrolments and donors. The officer will also coordinate the college’s presence at relevant conferences and events.

The officer reports and is accountable to the Principal/CEO. The role will require working closely with the Events and Promotions Officer, informing the development of effective print and online communication to support the role. Collaboration will also be required with the Marketing and Development Officer in maintaining current donor relations and identifying new supporters of the college’s ministry.

The role is initially two days a week, with scope for extension of hours with increases in enrolment. Hours may be worked flexibly, in consultation with the Principal, in order to facilitate efficient and effective use of time. Some limited weekend and night-time work may be required, dependent on conference and event calendars. Starting salary is $36,000, (Post-Secondary Education Award – General Staff Level 8) with annual reviews in light of performance.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the character and convictions consistent with representing the college, its ethos and mission, to the wider community. They should also demonstrate a proven capacity for self-motivation, initiative and developing customer relations. Experience in relationship management or sales and promotions would be well regarded.
