Getting in the way of people seeing God

Alan Stanley
Dr Alan Stanley, Director of Postgraduate Studies, Lecturer in Bible and Theology.

What did Jesus mean in Matthew 6:1 when he said, “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others so as to be seen by them”? Does it contradict what he said in Matthew 5:16 about letting your “light shine before others”?

Alan Stanley challenged us to think about Matthew 6 verses 1 to 18 in the light of why we seek recognition and how that gets in the way of people seeing God.
