Your CAC Autumn Wrap-Up

CAC Autumn Update
Director of Asian Centre for Christianity, Head of Ministry and Practice, Lecturer in Ministry and Mission

The past few months for our Centre have been fruitful and encouraging as we have pursued our vision to be an Australian hub for the acceleration of gospel growth in the Asian Church. Let me highlight some significant events so as to encourage your hearts and fuel your prayers.

CAC fundraising dinner (May 12th)
Some seventy people relaxed in our Carey & Taylor rooms as they experienced a taste of Asia – both figuratively and literally. Amidst an Asian- themed decorated facility and delightful cuisine our keynote speaker, Dr Samuel Goh, spoke on how East and West can meaningfully partner together and how CAC through its partnerships with Asian ministries in Australia and Asia was doing just that. Among others we also heard from Dr Chris Luthy about the strategic work Jaffray Theological Seminary in Indonesia, where he teaches, and how we in Australia can be part of the gospel going to both the cities and remote villages of East Indonesia.

Asian Ministry Summit II (May 26th)
Last year we held the first Asian Ministry Summit online, but in 2022 we were able to hold it as an in-person gathering in Sydney. Twenty five Asian Ministry leaders gathered at the Adina hotel to wrestle with issues such as: trends in the Asian church across Australia; ministering to mainland Chinese people; first and second generation differences and the impact on church ministry; and raising up the next generation of gospel workers. The Summit was highly interactive with a relaxed atmosphere that created lots of opportunities for different groups to network with one another and build relationships.

Chinese leaders event (May 31)
A new initiative of the Chinese-speaking arm of our ministry was held just a few days ago. A gathering of almost thirty Chinese pastors and leaders was held here at BST whereby we flew in two speakers from Sydney and Melbourne who are engaged in different ministries that are seeking to raise up interns, pastors and missionaries from within Chinese-speaking churches. One of CAC’s unique approaches is that where we identify great ministries operating that are seeking to grow the Asian church we look to see if there are ways we could support or promote these ministries. It was exciting to see so many pastors and leaders being challenged about raising up the next generation of Chinese leaders.

Thank you for your continued interest, support, and prayers for the Asian church.
