Launched on 23 July 2016, the Centre for Asian Christianity is an initiative of Brisbane School of Theology (BST). In collaboration and dialogue with Asian Christian leaders, the Centre is committed to equipping and resourcing Christians for effective contextual Asian ministry.
The Centre recognises that many ministries and training institutions have contributed to the spread of the gospel to Asia for centuries and our desire is to see this work continue for generations to come.
In addition to BST’s training program (we’ve been teaching students in Mandarin for more than 20 years), the Centre will proactively collaborate with Asian Christian leaders and scholars in the spread of the gospel amongst Asians and the strengthening, equipping and training of the Asian church. Our goal is to deliver high-quality training programs that position the Centre as the Bible college of choice in Australia for Christians wanting to be trained to minister in Asian contexts.
With Christ’s leading, we will:
We are a training, research, and collaborative organisation, not a sending one.
We realise that Asian Christians have much to teach and inform the Centre, so in humility the Centre seeks to engage in genuine cross-cultural dialogue with Asian Christians about contextual Asian ministry.
We are not seeking to be an independent body but look to partner with like-minded individuals and organisations that are seeking to spread the gospel in Asian contexts.
The Centre is reliant on the prayers and generous donations of supporters. Please pray for the Centre as we equip those who seek to minister in Asian contexts.
