New principal at BST

RG2014
Rev Dr Richard Gibson, BST Principal and CEO

After 20 years of lecturing at Moore College in New South Wales, Rev Dr Richard Gibson joined the BST team on 16 June as college principal and CEO…
I consider it an enormous privilege to take up leadership in a college that has a rich history of developing passionate and capable disciples of Christ.
I hope to continue the tradition of leading BST with excellence for God’s Kingdom work and his glory.
While it’s only the beginning of my third week here at BST, my wife Kim and I are still busy settling into life in Brisbane and enjoying the warm weather and the warm welcome.
The staff and faculty have been very kind and patient as I learn the ropes. I am impressed by the enthusiasm and expertise of the staff, the wisdom and hard work of the faculty and the supportiveness of the board.
I would like to express our thankfulness to God and to those who have welcomed us so warmly, and especially those who have been praying for us and for BST at this time.
It is a delight to be involved in equipping people to play their role in God’s mission to this broken and needy world, as BST has done for many years. It is even clearer to me now that BST is well-positioned to seize the opportunities and meet the challenges that lie ahead.
But we can do this only in complete dependence on God and in partnership with our supporters. The recruitment of new students, the resourcing of BST’s programs and the placing of graduates depends on a wide network of faithful and generous partners. I am very conscious of the many friends who have made the ministry of BST possible over a long time.
In a faculty meeting last week, we chewed over Paul’s words in Philippians: Only, live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that, whether I come and see you or am absent and hear about you, I will know that you are standing firm in one spirit, striving side by side with one mind for the faith of the gospel, and are in no way intimidated by your opponents (1:27-28). These are timely words for Kim and I, for the staff and faculty, for the students and graduates of BST, and all those who support its work.
I look forward to meeting many of the supporters of BST over the coming weeks.
Richard will be lecturing at the next BST open night on Wednesday 3rd September.
