ABOUT ⋅ PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME

Spend some time with us

Brisbane School of Theology is a community of believers committed to God’s Word, discipleship, and mission. And we want to welcome you into the family.

From the Acting Principal

If this is your first encounter with BST—welcome! It is my hope that, for you, this marks the beginning of a long and fruitful journey with us.

At BST, you will be challenged to think more deeply about God and his word, and to be formed personally in this knowledge through prayer and in community. By God’s grace, college is a time of being refined and growing in the image and likeness of God, through your lectures, in chapel, and in our many other gatherings. Your time at BST is an opportunity for both intellectual and spiritual growth. We value community, and the richness that comes from doing life and ministry together. We retain our firm commitment to face-to-face learning, and are pleased to be able to offer our students on-site accommodation options as they study with us.

All this will contribute to your work in mission and ministry now and in the future, wherever God might take you.

From the beginning of our college’s life in 1943 as the Queensland Bible Institute, we have always operated under the conviction that the best way to learn about God is from God. We sit under the authority of Holy Scripture, God’s revelation of himself to those whom he created and redeemed in love. Inside and outside the classroom, our lecturers do not seek to form students after our own likeness or according to our own preferences. Instead, we subject all our teaching to what God reveals to us and wills for us in the Bible. In this way, the Holy Spirit informs and animates all that we do.

Centrally, we understand that what is learned at college must not stay at college: what God communicates to us are not merely nice words, but the words of eternal life. These words must work their way into the heart, and then out to the ends of the earth. At BST, we seek to enable you, in dependence on God’s power and grace, to fulfil this God-given work of transformation.

Will you join us?
