Receptionist
Brisbane School of Theology is seeking a Receptionist (4 days/week) to contribute to an organisational culture that serves our mission of providing excellent education and support to students, and maintaining constructive relationships with stakeholders and the public. The successful candidate will have a commitment to hospitality, be well-organised, able to manage competing priorities, work cooperatively with the team, and demonstrate effective skills in written and spoken communication.

BST is Christ-centred, interdenominational Bible college, accredited by the Australian University of Theology, and committed to equipping Christians for a lifetime of service. For over 80 years, we’ve been forming Christian leaders for maturity, ministry, and mission.
About the position
The position is intended to assist the Principal, by optimising office communications and operations, and overseeing internal processes, supplies and equipment. The role facilitates the journey of students from initial enquiry through to graduation and supports the relationship of the college with stakeholders, supporters and alumni. It also supports the Principal, by arranging appointments and maintaining diaries. Applicants will be asked to sign the BST Code of Conduct, if successful.
Responsibilities
- Open the office; greet visitors warmly; answer and redirect phone calls; manage mail, and deliveries; send and respond to emails; manage printing and copying
- Oversee standard office equipment and supplies (such as printer, ink, toner, and paper), and report any malfunctions to the appropriate person or supplier
- Arrange booking of meeting rooms and organise catering, as required
- Type up minutes of staff meetings, memos, letters, reports, forms, incident reports and similar content
- Maintain calendars, coordinate schedules, prioritise meeting requests and logistics, and arrange travel, when requested
- Liaise with the BST Board, Australian University of Theology, mission partners and other stakeholders
- Establish and maintain record-keeping system for contracts, attendance, files, and employee records, in compliance with the privacy policy
- Serve as First Aid Officer (with First Aid allowance; training at college expense)
- Receive and process bank payments
Skills and qualifications
Essential
- Experience as a receptionist
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and manage time effectively
- Competence in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and willingness to acquire competence in Clarety, Paradigm and Moodle
Desirable
- Qualification in business administration
- Experience in higher education setting
Role Details:
Part-time (4 days/week)
Reports to: Principal
Location: BST campus, 1 Cross Street, Toowong
Working hours by negotiation with the Principal.
Salary & Conditions
Starting salary is $56,290.33 (pro rata, Higher Education Industry–General Staff Award 2020, Level 6.1), with annual reviews based on performance.
